Started the 2011 campaign in style with a fifth place finish in the Mauritius Commercial Bank Open and also finished fourth in the Berenberg Bank Masters as he ended the season in 38th position on the Order of Merit. His highlight so far on the Senior Tour came in 2009 when he won an emotional maiden title in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open, denying Ian Woosnam a popular home victory, just three years after a stroke left him partially sighted in his right eye. Carded a final round 69 at Royal Porthcawl having opened with a round of 74. Despite finishing tied second in the 2008 Jersey Seniors Classic, he finished the season just outside the top 50 on the Order of Merit meaning a return to Qualifying School where he finished second to regain his card. Turned professional in 2000, following a highly successful amateur career in his native South Africa, and finished second at the 2005 European Senior Tour Qualifying School Finals in Portugal. Worked as a wheat farmer for 30 years before selling up to follow his golfing dream and has featured prominently on mini tours in America, finishing top of the Sunbelt Senior Professional Golf Tour Money List in 2002 and 2003. Winner of more than 100 Open titles in South Africa and represented Western Province from 1979 to 1994.
