Finished outside the top 40 on the Order of Merit for the first time in his ten seasons on the Senior Tour in 2009. A share of 18th place in the season opening Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters presented by The Stapleford Forum was the highlight of his campaign. A consistent performer, his best season came in 2004, when he recorded 13 top ten finishes which helped him to sixth place on that year’s Order of Merit. This performance was all the more creditable considering he had angioplasty surgery in 2002 and at the beginning of 2004, and in between he also had to undergo surgery to clear his neck arteries. Represented Australia in the 1977 World Cup and during the 1970s he was an occasional visitor to Europe, with his best finish on The European Tour coming when he shared 17th place at the 1978 Italian Open. Between 1979 and 1989 he returned to life as a club professional and in 1988 formed his own company, called Rapier Golf, which manufactures graphite shafted clubs. His wife Anne regularly caddies for him, and rewards him with a kiss every time he makes a birdie.
