Made a dream start to his first year on the European Senior Tour in 2004 when he won on his second outing at the DGM Barbados Open. Finished 22nd on that year’s Order of Merit and 23rd the following year. Slipped off the radar a little in 2009, only playing in the first two events of the season, coming tied 27th in both. Boasted a fine playing record on The European Tour with victories in the 1979 Belgian Open and the Open de Baleares in 1991. Has won five times on home soil, most noticeably in the 1985 South African Open and he also claimed the South African Order of Merit title in 1984. Turned professional in 1978 after a successful amateur career when he represented his country nine times as well as winning the 1975 South African Amateur Stroke Play Championship, and the French Amateur Open Championship and Rhodesian Amateur Open Championship both in 1978. Since leaving The European Tour at the start of the 1990s, he has served as Chairman of the South African PGA and has been a regular competitor in his homeland. In 2003 he was named South Africa’s Teacher of the Year.
