Godson of one of Argentina’s most celebrated golfers, four-time European Tour champion Vicente Fernandez. Also counts the man who put Paraguay on the golfing map – Carlos Franco, a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour – as a close friend. Flirted with the lead during the first two rounds of The 2003 Open Championship at Royal St George’s, an experience he still counts among the highlights of his professional career. Played his first full season in Europe in 2005 and was rewarded for his outstanding consistency – he notched seven top ten finishes – with 15th place on the Challenge Tour Rankings, to gain his European Tour card for 2006. Returned to the Challenge Tour in 2008 after a mixed season on The European Tour, and promptly secured his maiden victory in the 102° Abierto VISA de la Republica presentado por Peugeot. But the win was not ultimately enough to secure him a place in the top 20 in the Rankings, as he finished 21st by an agonising €259. Put that disappointment behind him, however, with a fine performance in the Qualifying School – Final Stage, where he finished 22nd. Was back at Qualifying School in 2009 but came joint fourth at Final Stage to secure his card for 2010.
