Born in Glasgow but currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, having stayed in the States after completing his Marketing degree at Colorado State University, where he was coached by Jamie Bermel, who was former Masters Tournament champion Zach Johnson's coach at Drake University. Joined the professional ranks shortly after graduating in 2004, and has competed predominantly on the US PGA Tour since earning his card through the Nationwide Tour in 2007. Has won two titles on the US PGA Tour, first at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open, and more recently at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2011. Finished in tenth place on his maiden European Tour appearance on home soil at the 2009 Scottish Open, which was won by Martin Kaymer, and followed up that performance with a tied fifth finish – again behind Kaymer – at the 2010 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
