Finishing sixth in the 2010 Challenge Tour Rankings not only earned him a place on The European Tour for 2011 but also meant he could continue his habit of chewing tobacco, as a bet with his coach at the start of the season would have prevented him from doing so had he finished outside the top ten. Another example of his coach’s influence, as earlier in his career when he was struggling to make the transition from amateur to professional a strong pep talk about how he needed to start fulfilling his potential had the desired effect. Did enough to keep his card in 2011, finishing 111th in The Race to Dubai with four top ten finishes, but struggled in 2012 and had to retain his playing rights via a trip to the Qualifying School, taking the 22nd card at PGA Catalunya Resort. Captured his maiden Challenge Tour title at the SWALEC Wales Challenge. After 34 energy-sapping holes on a wet final day, he held off Raymond Russell for the €24,000 winner’s cheque to add to the €28,800 he had collected the week before when finishing second behind amateur Andreas Hartø at the ECCO Tour Championship. Won three individual titles during his time at Texas Tech University in America, and also represented Sweden in the Eisenhower Trophy in an impressive amateur career.
