Playing in his fifth season on the Senior Tour, the American will be looking to improve on his best finish of tied seventh which came in The 51st PGA Seniors Championship in 2007. A graduate of Yale University, he joined the Senior Tour following his 50th birthday in April 2006, courtesy of his position on the All-Time Career Money List. Made 11 starts that year and finished a respectable 51st on the Order of Merit. No stranger to playing in Europe having first arrived on these shores in 1982 after failing to win a card to the US PGA Tour, although it is in Asia where he has enjoyed most success. Winning the Singapore PGA Championship in 1989 and 1991 were special to him because his wife, Veronica, was born in the country. A knee injury meant two operations and a lengthy lay-off in 1993 and the following year he was dogged by tendonitis in a shoulder. In 1995, troubled by shin problems, he missed cuts in 21 starts then won the Chemapol Trophy Czech Open and a cheque for £125,000. It was a reminder to everyone that however bleak things may seem, they can be all the brighter one week later with four good rounds of golf.
