Famously claimed his maiden Major Championship title at the 2017 Masters Tournament, beating Justin Rose in a play-off at Augusta National.

Wrote his name into the history books at The 2018 Ryder Cup, when a Sunday Singles victory over Rickie Fowler at Le Golf National took him to a record total of 25.5 points in nine appearances - six of them on victorious European sides.

Four weeks later, he successfully defended his title at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, hosted by his own charitable foundation - his third victory in that particular event and his 15th of 16 European Tour titles.

His first Major victory was the highlight of an impressive 2017 in which he recorded a total of three wins and was named the European Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year.

Had a glittering amateur career, becoming the then-youngest player to make a European Tour cut in 1995 aged just 16, and winning the Amateur Championship in 1998.

Turned professional in 1999 after finishing low amateur at the Masters and won in his sixth professional start at the Irish Open. Has since won more than 30 titles worldwide.
