Became a double winner on the European Tour in 1991 just two years after winning the English Amateur Championship. His form that year saw him secure a place in The Ryder Cup side at Kiawah Island. Richardson partnered Mark James to two victories against the United States, but narrowly lost in the singles to Corey Pavin.
