    A talented New Zealander, who played on The European Tour for three years during the mid-1980s and who turned 50 in August 2004. Won his country’s Amateur Championship in 1975 and followed that with a victory in the New Zealand PGA Championship in 1982. First made an impact in Europe in 1984 when making the cut in all his six appearances and put together an impressive 71.17 stroke average. His best season in Europe was in 1985 when he claimed eighth place behind Howard Clark at the Glasgow Open at Haggs Castle on his way to finishing 82nd on the Order of Merit. He was selected to represent New Zealand in that season’s Alfred Dunhill Cup and went on to represent his country in the World Cup in California later that year. Renowned for his prowess on the greens. During 1985 he averaged 29.30 putts per round which put him in joint fourth place in that statistical category behind Bernard Gallacher, Michael King and Bernhard Langer.
