The Swede came through the collegiate system in the United States before turning professional in 2024 following the U.S. Amateur.

Made his professional debut on home soil at the Indoor Golf Group Challenge on the HotelPlanner Tour and began the 2025 season relying on invites. However, after impressing at the Swiss Challenge and Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge, he would go on to finish 17th on the Road to Mallorca to earn his first promotion to the DP World Tour.

As an amateur, Jonsson played alongside World Number 18 Ludvig Åberg at the European Amateur Team Championship, where Sweden eventually earned the silver medal after losing in the final to Spain.
