Finished second behind Simon Dyson in the Order of Merit on the Davidoff Tour in 2000 with winnings of $220,456. Biggest success of his career came early in the year when he captured the Benson and Hedges Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur. A fisherman's son, he grew up next to Ta Shee Golf and Country Club where he caddied for a few years during junior high school to earn some extra money. He eventually picked up the game and blossomed into one of the country's finest amateur players where he played in two Asian Games. He had a few lessons from the great "Mr" Lu Liang-Huan, whose worldly advice was to "enjoy golf and not just win, win, win." Victory in the Benson and Hedges Malaysian Open saw him become only the third Asian player - after "Mr" Lu and Isao Aoki of Japan - to win a European Tour title.
