Adri Arnaus looking to build momentum in Singapore

Adri Arnaus is hoping he can build on an encouraging start to his 2023 DP World Tour season and mount a title challenge in the Singapore Classic at Laguna National Golf Resort Club.

The Spaniard arrives in the South East Asia nation on the back of finishing in a tie for 13th at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and in a share of sixth place at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

Those performances during the Desert Swing have acted as a psychological boost and lifted the 28-year-old to 79th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

“I have started [2023] on a positive note,” he said.

“I was a bit slow in the first event [the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship] but the last two events have been quite good. Staying at home in Dubai also helped.

“The game is feeling good, and I am ready for this week.”

Arnaus claimed his breakthrough success on the DP World Tour last year, beating Oliver Bekker in a play-off at the Catalunya Championship, and his focus is on ensuring he puts himself in contention on a regular basis.

“Last year was huge to get my first win under my belt so this year I am looking to add another one on the roster and hopefully more than one,” he said.

The 2018 Challenge Tour Graduate was one of only three players to card sub-70 rounds in all four rounds at Al Hamra Golf Club last week and believes he is not far off claiming a second DP World Tour title of his career.

“I have just got to go a bit lower and take the trophy home,” he added.

Singapore is hosting a DP World Tour event for the first time since 2014 and Arnaus is looking forward to experience what the country has to offer for the first time.

“One of the lucky things we get to do in our sport is to travel the world,” he said.

“Singapore is a country I have never visited before so since the beginning of the year I have been excited to come and here we are.

“[Laguna National] is a bit different to what we have been playing the last few weeks.

“There is not as much sand and a lot of vegetation. The climate makes it fantastic for the grass to be in perfect shape.

“There are a lot of big trees and I have heard there are some undulations here and there. It is going to be a good week on this track.”
