Alex Fitzpatrick will be looking to continue his fine form on the Race to Dubai when he tees it up at the 2026 Soudal Open, which will be held at Rinkven International Golf Club from May 21-24.
The Englishman secured his maiden DP World Tour victory at the Hero Indian Open last month, firing eight final round birdies to come out on top at the notoriously difficult DLF Golf & Country Club. It marked his first win on golf’s Global Tour, having previously claimed the British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2023.
The 27-year-old joined his elder brother, European Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick, as a winner on Tour - and the siblings made history as the first ever to win in successive weeks on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, following Matt’s win at the Valspar Championship.
Fitzpatrick, who finished in a share of 11th and five shots behind champion Kristoffer Reitan at last year’s event, will be relishing the prospect of adding to his trophy cabinet when he makes his fourth appearance at Belgium’s national open.
He will be joined in Schilde by six-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem.
The 45-year-old will make his seventh appearance in Belgium and look to build on two top 20 finishes this season to date.
The pair will feature alongside a host of stars already confirmed for the event, including home favourites Thomas Detry and Nicolas Colsaerts and past champions Simon Forsström, Nacho Elvira, and Poland’s Adrian Meronk.
Belgium’s national open was first played in 1910, with Flory van Donck, a five-time champion, 11-time Major Champion Walter Hagen and Sir Henry Cotton, after whom the DP World Tour’s Rookie of the Year Award is named, among those achieving early success.
The tournament appeared on the DP World Tour schedule in 1978 and made its return as the Soudal Open in 2022, where England’s Sam Horsfield was crowned the winner.
The Soudal Open is the second tournament of the DP World Tour’s European Swing, the fourth of five Global Swings included on the 2026 Race to Dubai. The total prize fund for the event is US$2.75 million, with 3,500 Race to Dubai points on offer.
Soudal, the largest manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and polyurethane foams for professional and private users, was founded in 1966 by Vic Swerts. It is still 100% family owned, operating out of Turnhout, Belgium.
