DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia: DP World Tour Fantasy Ones to Watch

The DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia is the penultimate event of the European Swing and here is all that players of the DP World Tour's official fantasy game need to know.

Italian Open hero

After stops in Spain, Belgium, Austria and Netherlands, the action arrives in northern Italy at Circolo Golf Torino for the 11th national open of the 2026 DP World Tour schedule.

A strong international field is headlined by Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World leader Patrick Reed, twice a winner this season so far.

France's Adrien Saddier is the defending champion having won his maiden DP World Tour title last year at Argentario Golf Club.

Home hopes are spearheaded by two-time Italian Open winner Francesco Molinari - one of two Major champions in action alongside Reed.

Among other Italians teeing it up are DP World Tour winners Guido Migliozzi, Renato Paratore and Francesco's brother and Ryder Cup Vice Captain Edoardo, with the siblings sure to draw strong crowds at their home club.

Who are the most backed players

On the back of his career-best Major result at the U.S. Open, Joaquín Niemann is the most popular pick among our players featuring in 62%.

Race to Dubai leader Reed is second at 46%, closely followed by Matt Wallace, a five-time DP World Tour winner, at 44%.

Spanish pair David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra, both winners so far this season, round out the top five at 26% and 22% respectively.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite: Patrick Reed

The American enjoyed a brilliant start to 2026, becoming a Rolex Series winner at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic before claiming the fifth DP World Tour title of his career at the Qatar Masters either side of losing in a play-off at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. Those performances saw him take an early stranglehold at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World and across his nine appearances this season, his sole missed cut came last week at the U.S. Open. This marks his second appearance in Italy’s national open after finishing tied 29th in 2024. As the top-ranked player in the field, it's hard to look past the Major winner becoming the first to win three DP World Tour titles this season.

Form Horse: Eugenio Chacarra

Along with South Africa's Yurav Premlall and Japan's Kota Kaneko, the Spaniard is one of three winners so far from the European Swing in action this week. Of those three, Chacarra has a greater run of form behind him with two top tens and a tie for 22nd along with his victory at the KLM Open across his four starts during the Swing so far. Add to the mix, he finished in a tie for seventh and it is hard to see him not building on his momentum in northern Italy. Riding high in sixth place on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World too, the 26-year-old is in a good spot to challenge for dual membership at the end of the year.

Wild Card: Francesco Laporta

One of 19 Italians teeing it up on home soil, he is also one of 22 players who was in action the last time the DP World Tour visited Circolo Golf Torino in 2014. Back then, he finished tied 24th in a year where he played predominantly on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa. More than a decade on, he is in his third full season back on the DP World Tour after earning promotion from the HotelPlanner Tour in 2023. So far this season, he has made seven cuts from 13 events, finishing tied second at the Investec South African Open Championship to qualify for this summer's Open Championship. With three top tens across 12 starts at his national open, there will be no lack of hunger on his part as he targets an elusive first DP World Tour title.

Looking back - U.S. Open

He may have arrived at the third men's Major of the year in form having won on the PGA TOUR last month but Wyndham Clark proved a surprise winner among our Fantasy players, with less than 3% of users picking the American as he earned 178 points.

It was an excellent week for this column's picks, with Favourite Scottie Scheffler finishing tied fourth, Form Horse Tommy Fleetwood was tied 11th while Wild Card Alex Fitzpatrick ended his U.S. Open debut in a tie for 23rd.
