Rasmus Højgaard believes there is still a chance for him to secure his second DP World Tour title on home soil at the 2026 Danish Golf Championship.
The 25-year-old lifted the Made in Himmerland trophy in 2023 and sits five shots adrift of third-round leader Romain Langasque at nine under par.
Højgaard mixed a double bogey and a dropped shot with three birdies before finishing his round in style by eagling the 16th for second day in succession to card a two-under 70 and a share of seventh.
"It started a bit rough. The first nine holes wasn't how I wanted it to be," Højgaard said after reaching the turn with a two-over 38.
"A few bad mistakes there. A costly one there on six with a double bogey hitting in the water, but then I thought I was going to get one back on nine, but yeah, I had to three-putt there.
"And then obviously the last nine holes I felt like I played solid golf and probably could have made a few more birdies.
"I was super angry walking towards the tenth tee. I felt like that par on nine was a big hit in the face a little bit.
"I knew there's going to be some chances coming in on the back nine. Making birdie there on 10 and 11 sort of gave me a little spark."
On his brilliant chip-in eagle at the 16th, the Dane added: "Two days in a row. To be fair, I feel like I should have made a few more birdies there on the last nine up until the 16th hole. I would have taken a birdie there.
"But chipping in obviously made it feel a lot better."
With five DP World Tour titles to his name, the World Number 79 is confident he can close down the leading Frenchman, along with compatriot Jeff Winther, and delight the home fans.
"If I can get myself within range tomorrow, hopefully I can set up some good chances coming down the last few holes," Højgaard concluded.
"The 18th has been a bit of a shaky one so far for me. I mean, that shot I just hit in there now I thought it was in the water, but stayed alive.
"So let's see where the leaders are after today and then we might have a chance tomorrow.
"It's great. It's another day of great showing out there. The fans definitely gave me a little bit more energy as well after that slow start.
"So being able to have a couple of us up there, Jeff as well, I think it's going to be exciting for the crowd tomorrow."
