Shane Lowry is the latest Ryder Cup star to commit to the Open de España presented by Madrid at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from October 8-11.
The Irishman will join Jon Rahm, a three-time winner of Spain’s national open, and Tyrrell Hatton in the Spanish capital as part of a field that also includes defending champion Marco Penge.
Four-time DP World Tour winner Lowry became a Major Champion with victory at The Open in 2019, while his latest significant contribution to European golf saw him hole the putt to retain the Ryder Cup at Bethpage last September.
The 39-year-old will make his eighth appearance – and for the third year in a row – at the Open de España, where his best result is a tie for 11th in 2011.
The tournament is one of the DP World Tour’s most historic national opens, having appeared on the schedule almost every year since the Tour’s inception in 1972.
