Si Woo Kim is the latest Korean star confirmed to tee it up on home soil at the Genesis Championship later this year, joining Sungjae Im and defending champion Junghwan Lee in the field at Woo Jeong Hills from October 22-25.
World Number 14 Kim, Korea’s highest-ranked player on the Official World Golf Ranking, will make his second appearance at the event, bolstering an exciting field of global talent in Cheonan.
The Genesis Championship, Korea’s largest international golf tournament co-sanctioned by the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour, will celebrate its tenth edition this year with a total prize fund of US$4 million and tickets are available to purchase here.
Four-time PGA Tour winner Kim rose to prominence in 2017 as he won THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, becoming the second Korean winner of the event after K.J. Choi. The 31-year-old, alongside Im, has represented the International Team at the Presidents Cup on three occasions, the pair earning 13 points for their side in that time and will make their fourth appearance together next week at Medinah Country Club.
Kim, who finished in a share of sixth at this year’s Open Championship, is excited to return to Woo Jeong Hills after finishing in a tie for 21st last year.
“I’m very excited to play the Genesis Championship again later this year,” said Kim. “The fans were fantastic in 2025 so I’m looking forward to reconnecting with them and hopefully putting on a good performance.”
First played in 2017, the Genesis Championship has grown into a truly global golf tournament since becoming a co-sanctioned KPGA Tour and DP World Tour event in 2024. As the final tournament of the Back 9 on the DP World Tour’s global schedule, and the last event of the regular season before the Play-Offs, it delivers a fiercely contested title race each year.
Held as an extension of the strategic partnership between the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour, the tournament is also attracting attention as a crucial gateway for Korean players to step onto the global stage. This year, a field of 126 players — 36 from the KPGA Tour and 90 from the DP World Tour — will compete for the trophy.
The tournament also marks the final opportunity for DP World Tour players to secure their status for the following season, with those finishing inside the top 100 of the Race to Dubai standings earning playing rights on the DP World Tour.
