Broke new ground when during the 1999 Jersey Seniors Open he became the first Member to make 100 appearances on the European Seniors Tour and he needs just one more in 2006 to reach the 150 barrier. Missed just one Seniors tournament between 1990 and 1998 but only because he was involved in an horrific car crash in which he fractured both arms and legs and several ribs as well. After the accident, he spent seven days in intensive care and a further three months in hospital but eventually made a full recovery. Prior to turning 50, he was a club professional but he still found the time to win twice on The European Tour and five times on the Safari Tour. He played in three World Cups, three Hennessy Cognac Cups and seven PGA Cups but the highlight of his career came in 1983 when he was selected for The Ryder Cup Match at PGA National, Florida. A winner of six titles on the Seniors Tour, he became the first Senior golfer to break 200 for 54 holes while winning the 1998 Elf Seniors Open at Pau, with a score of 195. One of the game’s great thinkers and is an expert on golfing history.
