One of the longest hitters in the game, he won the 2012 Masters Tournament with an audacious shot to beat Louis Oosthuizen in the play-off.

The Florida native made it two wins in three years at Augusta National in 2014, when he won the Masters for his second Major title.

Later that same year, he added his first World Golf Championships title at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, holing a spectacular bunker shot on the final hole to force a play-off with Tim Clark, which he won courtesy of a birdie on the first extra hole. With his second WGC victory at the 2018 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, Watson became the fifth player with multiple Major Championship and multiple World Golf Championships titles, joining Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.

Known for his unorthodox swing and approach to the game – which he calls “Bubba Golf” – he has won a total of 11 times on the PGA Tour.

Full name is Gerry Lester Watson, but was nicknamed Bubba by his father, after professional footballer, Bubba Smith.
