Left school at the age of 14 to pursue his dream of playing professional golf and soon established himself as one of the rising stars of Southern Africa golf, claiming his maiden victory in the 1998 Zambia Open and that same year defeating countryman Mark McNulty for the Stenhem Royal Swazi Sun Open. Fourth on the 2004 Challenge Tour Rankings, he moved his game to a new level in 2005 both at home and abroad. On the Sunshine Tour he won the Vodacom Tour Championship with a scintillating final round 61, while on The European Tour, a season’s best tie for third in the Scandinavian Masters by Carlsberg in July helped him finish 82nd on the Order of Merit. The win in Johannesburg guaranteed him entry to the WGC – NEC Invitational at Firestone but he nearly jeopardised the trip by setting light to his left hand the previous week at a family barbecue. Played through the pain though, and with the aid of the inside lining of a baseball catching mitt under his golf glove, partnered eventual champion Tiger Woods in the first round. Has been playing mainly on the Sunshine Tour for the past two seasons, winning the 2008 Nashua Masters before reclaiming his place on The European Tour at the 2008 Qualifying School – Final Stage.
