Started the 2014 season with a bang, winning the first event, the South African Open Championship hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni. Played the last round alongside Major winner Charl Schwartzel but was unfazed and a five under par 67 gave him a two shot victory. Enjoyed a hugely successful rookie season on the European Tour, during which he had seven top 20 finishes, and followed it up with another steady campaign in 2015, the highlight being a fourth place finish at the lucrative Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February. From Silkeborg GK, the same club which produced Denmark’s greatest player, Thomas Bjørn, Madsen played just one season on the Challenge Tour, where he gained promotion thanks to a 19th place finish in the Rankings, before improving on that category by taking the 19th card at the Qualifying School Final Stage. Earned his Challenge Tour status via the ECCO Tour in 2011. Admits that he wanted to be a footballer as a child, even though his father wanted him to play golf from an early age. Was finally drawn in when, during the summer holidays as a 12 year old, he decided to give it a go and has been hooked since. The son of an engineer father and secondary school teacher mother, he represented Oregon State University in the USA before turning professional.
