A European Tour stalwart for over a decade now, he earned the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award in 2008 after winning the Open de France in his maiden campaign on tour, having come through a 36-hole qualifier to earn his place in the event.

He has since won six more titles, including two at the BMW International Open in 2011 and 2015. Ended a four-and-a-half year wait for a title at the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Championship where he overcame painful blisters on the final day to clinch victory.

Won twice on the 2022 season in the space of just four starts, first at the MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood – his second victory in South Africa - and then at the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain, his first win on home soil.

Born in Barcelona, he started golf aged five under the tutelage of his mother, then a scratch handicapper.

He attended high school in the United States, returned home in 2002 and worked on his family’s fish farm for two years to understand the value of money before eventually turning pro in 2004.

A big Barcelona fan, his brother Alejandro won the Amateur Championship in 2002.
