Won his first Major at The 138th Open Championship at Turnberry in 2009, beating Tom Watson in a play-off for the Claret Jug. Clinched the Travelers Championship in 2008 to lift career earnings past the $25million mark and into tenth position on the all-time US PGA Tour Money List. That victory, and a runner-up finish to Tiger Woods in the WGC-Accenture Match Play helped him secure a third Ryder Cup berth. Took up the game when his parents – single figure handicappers – left him to hit shots on the driving range before he was old enough to play on the golf course. Won three times on the Nationwide Tour in 1996, winning a then record $251,699, to earn a place on the US PGA Tour and managed to capture first title, the Canon Greater Hartford Open, in his first full season. First player to be named Nationwide Player of the Year and US PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in successive seasons. Went to Georgia Tech as a teenager and was named America’s top collegiate golfer, shortly before marrying and becoming a father while still at College. A big Atlanta Thrashers hockey fan. Enjoys roller hockey and hiking in the mountains, going for a week each summer with a group of friends.
