The Favourite Jon Rahm

The Spaniard enjoyed a stellar record at golf’s four Majors in 2021 as he won the U.S. Open last June and finished in the top 10 in the other three.

Since his Masters debut in 2017, when he finished tied 27th, he has finished in the top ten in each of his last four appearances at Augusta National.

Rahm, who lost his World Number One status to Scottie Scheffler after the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play last week, is also on a 15-round run of scoring level-par or better on the hallowed layout.

His best result this year came at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, when he was second behind Cameron Smith who produced a new PGA Tour 72-hole record low score of 34-under.

Form Horse – Scottie Scheffler

Newly-crowned World Number One Scottie Scheffler arrives at Augusta National in the best form of the world’s leading players with three wins in his last five starts, most recently at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

The American began the year 13th in the Official World Golf Ranking before he claimed his breakthrough PGA TOUR win at February’s Phoenix Open and followed it up with victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Scheffler, 25, was undefeated in his three matches for Team USA on debut at last year’s Ryder Cup and recorded top tens at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open – form which helped his rise to World Number One last month

He has also finished inside the top 20 in both of his Masters appearances.

Wild Card Shane Lowry

Lowry comes into the first men’s Major of the year in good form after three top 15s in his last four starts, including a second-place finish at the Honda Classic on the PGA TOUR in February.

Prior to that, the Irishman began the year on the DP World Tour with back-to-back Rolex Series events as he finished tied 12th at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship before he placed in the top 25 at the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic.

The 35-year-old has made the cut in each of his previous six visits to Augusta, with his best finish of tied 21st coming in last year’s edition.

Already a Major winner following his triumph around Royal Portrush at the Open Championship in 2019, the prospect of breezy and cool conditions could suit Lowry’s shot-shaping abilities.
