Through our investments in G4D, we are helping to encourage a wider take up of golf within the disabled community by challenging stereotypes and creating new idols. This unlocks benefits including improved cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic profiles, improved muscle strength and balance, and improved mental wellbeing.
The DP World Tour created The G4D Open in partnership with The R&A in 2023 - a new major championship for golfers with disability.
The G4D Tour was launched in 2022 in partnership with EDGA and saw 32 G4D tournaments staged at DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour events, with 73 players from 29 different nationalities competing.
In April 2026, the European Tour group also announced a new G4D Ryder Cup match will be created in 2027, to mark the 100th anniversary of golf's greatest team contest. This will see Europe and the USA go head to head in Ireland.
The European Tour group has also provided financial support to EDGA, so it can move from a volunteer-led organisation to a semi-professional one.
The European Tour group aims to grow participation and ultimately strengthen golf’s case for joining the Paralympics. In recent years, the number of people playing G4D competitively has grown significantly, with a 270% rise in the number of Access Passes granted.
